These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Ivies (“we”, “us”), the maker of Purple Lap. By downloading or using Purple Lap, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
Your safety comes first
Purple Lap turns your runs, rides and walks into laps against the clock. That’s a game you play on your own terms, and it never comes before your safety or anyone else’s.
- Follow the rules of the road. Stop at crossings and red lights (turn on Auto-pause and the clock stops with you), give way to others and stay alert.
- Watch where you’re going, not your phone. Your engineer talks to you so you don’t need to look. Don’t handle your phone while riding or near traffic.
- Never race on public roads, and don’t take risks to set a time. A personal best isn’t worth an accident.
- Choose safe, legal routes. You decide where your circuits go. Only use places you’re allowed to be, and take care on shared paths.
- Know your limits. Check with a doctor before starting a new exercise routine, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness or shortness of breath. Purple Lap isn’t a medical device and doesn’t give health advice.
You’re responsible for how and where you exercise. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t responsible for injury, loss or damage that happens while you use the app.
Times, distances and accuracy
Lap times, sector times, distances and positions are worked out from your phone’s GPS, which can drift, especially among tall buildings or trees. Treat them as good estimates, not official timing. We may adjust or reject laps that don’t look possible, to keep leaderboards fair.
Your online account
Online features are optional. When you turn them on, the app creates an account for your phone, kept in its secure storage. Keep your phone secure, because anyone using it can use your account. If you lose your phone, you can ask us to delete the account.
Fair play
Friends, leaderboards and Grand Prix weekends only work if everyone plays fair. When you use Purple Lap, please don’t:
- use a display name or circuit name that’s offensive, hateful, sexual, misleading, or pretends to be someone else;
- fake laps, for example by faking your location, using a vehicle on a run, or tampering with the app or the data it sends;
- harass, threaten or bully other people;
- break the law, or encourage anyone else to;
- attack, overload, scrape or try to get unauthorised access to our servers, or copy or reverse engineer the app beyond what the law allows.
If you see something that breaks these rules, email hello@theivies.in. We may remove content, remove laps or suspend or delete an online account that breaks these terms.
Your content
What you create stays yours: your sessions, circuits, names and times. When you use online features, you give us permission to store, copy and show that content as needed to run them, for example showing a circuit you share and your best lap on it to your friends. This permission ends when you delete the content or your online account, except for copies your friends already have on their phones.
Premium subscriptions
- Purple Lap is free to download. Premium is an optional subscription, sold and billed through your Google Play account at the price shown in the app before you buy.
- It renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Cancel any time in the Google Play Store app under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. You keep Premium until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- If a plan includes a free trial, it turns into a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel first.
- Refunds are handled under Google Play’s refund policy. If you think something’s gone wrong, email us as well.
- Deleting the app or your online account doesn’t cancel a subscription.
- We’ll tell you in advance, through Google Play, before any price change applies to you.
Our app and brand
Purple Lap, its name, logo, design, engineers’ voices and code belong to Ivies. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your own devices for your own, non-commercial use, as long as you follow these terms.
Purple Lap isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any motorsport series, team or governing body. Words like “Grand Prix”, “sector” and “purple” describe the game. Google Play is a trademark of Google LLC.
Changes and availability
We keep improving Purple Lap, so features may change, move or, occasionally, go. Online features need our servers and an internet connection, and may sometimes be unavailable. If we ever close Purple Lap or its online features, we’ll give reasonable notice in the app and on this website.
Disclaimers
Purple Lap is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will always be available, error-free or accurate, or that it will suit a particular purpose.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or opportunity. Our total liability to you for any claim about Purple Lap is limited to the amount you paid us for Premium in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can’t be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.
Ending these terms
You can stop using Purple Lap at any time: delete your online account and uninstall the app. We may suspend or end your access to online features if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. The sections on safety, your content, liability and the law still apply afterwards.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it applies. If you keep using Purple Lap after a change applies, you accept the new terms.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you live elsewhere, you keep any protection the consumer laws of your country give you.
